The patterns of an animal’s coat serve the purpose of cloaking the animal to blend in with its surroundings. This is not unlike people who use clothes and fashion to subconsciously belong to others.  

Instances where one stands out can be negative for both cases as they are more susceptible to bullying and/or predators such as fawns born with piebaldism.
